As a member of the Smaller Earth staff, I have been given the opportunity to head to Kenya to visit some of the voluntary projects that we work. The aim is to understand what they do at these projects and what they strive to achieve. I found this out recently and I am very excited!
Taking a step back – this emotion is not something I am used to dealing with. I am a 29 yr old male from the North of England who loves his wife, mates, work, sport and banter. I think I am experiencing this emotion because of the responsibility that comes with this opportunity. In fact, I want to find a few things out.
- What actually happens on these voluntary projects?
- How do people really benefit from these opportunities?
- How can Smaller Earth better communicate these opportunities?
I have never left the western world. I have never seen real poverty. And as an absolute truth, I am scared. This fear will drive me to do more, however I am not used to it.
Now, it is late, and I am up early. I am going to go to bed but as if I will be able to sleep! :-)
